What would an adult, naughty Scooby Doo series would look like if they didn’t race swapped everyone, had a fixation over Fred “white tiny dong” and were preachy as heck? Also, what does Velma’s cooter looks like? This is what “Scooby & the Secret of the Necronomicunt” tries to answer. Thoroughly.
Comic: Scooby-Doo & the Secret of the Necronomicunt
The Plot
Set in an alternate timeline that combines a few iterations of the gang into something else, the story focus on Velma’s efforts to recruit allies to help her, so she can bring a deceased ex-girlfriend of hers back to life with the help of a mythical book of the occult knowledge… or something like that. The Necronomicunt is basically a McGuffin of sorts, like those relics from an Indiana Jones movie, but with a ton of sex. However, this is not going to be a walk in the park for our favorite nerd, as she is going to face all sorts of BS thrown her way.
Our Protagonist
Forget about classic Velma when reading this one. While this iteration of the character is not the weirdo from more recent series, she is very much overtly a bohemian, hedonistic jaded girl that drowns her inner turmoil and sorrows with unhealthy amounts of varied substances and lots, lots of fetish, taboo-breaking sex. Public nakedness, skinny dipping, whippings and “punishment footsies” might be parts of a once-in-a-lifetime story for most, but for her, that is called a slow Tuesday. Sadly for Miss Dinkley, not even all the kinky stuff on Earth can bury her issues forever…
All in all, “Necronomicunt” will be balancing on dark themes while tackling them in a humorous way, while throwing healthy doses of TNA. It should be treated as it treats itself: a dark comedy that does not take itself seriously that is easy to read and meant to be enjoyable.
