Her natural blonde hair had shriveled after hours of sweating. The youthful skin of her lush cheeks was so red, she looked diseased, with fever. She had the blank, empty stare of a corpse. Her soft red lips were parted, a trail of drool flowing from between her white teeth. She was a battered beauty, like a vandalized Renaissance painting. Her screams had gone quiet, but the padded walls of the dungeon still remembered.
I put my fingers on her neck and quickly checked her pulse. Her breathing was ragged, she looked limp and lifeless in her chains. My heart was racing, from worry over her health, but even more over the excitement I felt having pushed her over the edge into this condition. I had no doubt she’d live through, she’d be no fun if she didn’t.
