In the first chapter, the two brothers are investigating a necromancer in the desert (yes, this is very inspired by Fullmetal Alchemist). He’s been attacking local settlements with his undead hordes for an unknown reason. The aristrocracy at the desert capitol are dealing with so many problems as of late, food riots, terrorist attacks, that the royals have not dispatched forces to deal with this growing threat. The necromancer’s army is growing, which attracts the interest of the brothers. Only a well-read magi could control so many undead. It’s reasonable to expect him to possess ancient writings, any of which could provide hints to curing Tarot’s mysterious illness.
As they set out to venture into the desert, they meet another traveler with similar goals. Boros, a deserter soldier. His obsession is to discover the truth about a legendary warrior named Sensaros (in the artwork above). As they learn of his goals, the brothers must decide whether their new companion is an even greater threat than the necromancer.
