We All Burn in the Light

This blog is a shrine to the many girls I hoped to keep in my life. It’s melancholic celebration of short connections formed without the sad endings. Enshrining precious memories, like etching stories in stone, and adding so much fantasy that nothing is uncomfortable. Poetry of the flesh.

The epiphany I have come to as my years have advanced is that you cannot change people. The parts about humans that are most difficult and conflict-causing in relationships are that way for reasons that on surface-level seem easy to change. But the opposite is the case. Those are rooted in inner truth.

It’s one of the hardest truths to accept, because it downgrades expectations so much. Otherwise perfect matches are impossible to make into something workable, because of unmovable pieces steeped in inner truth. To try and move those pieces will only hurt them.

There is little point in holding back. You are who you are, and all you can do is articulate it and make it easy for others to understand that. This honesty will ruin many otherwise precious connections that must be allowed to burn, for you to reach the Highest Order.

There is no point pursuing fame and power and money, or the best sex in the world, if you must compromise who you are. It just won’t last.

When your life is built on even a shred of lies, it is an unsound foundation. If your pursuit leads you to losing connection with your inner truth in that pursuit, the day will come that you will take the torch and burn everything you built. So wrong will it feel, you’ll wish it utterly destroyed.

Who you once were, who you are now, and who you are meant to be, that spirit will never stop screaming until you allow it to breathe.

We all burn in the light. We burn until we are clean.
